GOLDEN RING: ASSOCIATION OF THE FIORETTA MAZZEI LIBRARY AND WORKSHOP AND FRIENDS OF THE 'ENGLISH CEMETERY'.

STATUTO

Art. 1
L'Associazione denominata 'Aureo Anello Associazione Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei e Amici del Cimitero degli Inglesi', ha sede in Piazzale Donatello 38, in Firenze, nei locali del CIMITERO EVANGELICO di PORTA a PINTI detto 'DEGLI INGLESI', ed ha durata illimitata, salvo diversa deliberazione assembleare.

The Association called 'Golden Ring: Association of the Fioretta Mazzei Library and Workshop and Friends of the 'English Cemetery, is situated in Piazzale Donatello 38, Florence, in the Evangelical Cemetery of Porta a Pinti, called 'The English Cemetery', and is set up in perpetuity, except for changes deliberated by its members in assembly.

Art. 2
L'Associazione è apolitica, non persegue fini di lucro ed ha lo scopo di promuovere ed incoraggiare il restauro del Cimitero monumentale detto 'degli Inglesi' e la conservazione e lo sviluppo del patrimonio librario e delle attività artigianali legate al libro (stampa, incisione, calligrafia, composizione, rilegatura, restauro, ecc.) nonchè di promuovere manifestazioni culturali, artistiche, opere benefiche ed assistenziali di interesse sociale. Potrà anche esercitare un'attività economica in via strettamente accessoria, purchè non preveda la divisione di eventuali utili fra gli associati, utili da destinarsi solo al raggiungimento dei fini sociali. L'associazione per il raggiungimento dei suoi fini, potrà promuovere varie attività, in particolare: Attività culturali come convegni, conferenze, mostre, dibattiti, proiezioni, concerti ecc.; Attività di formazione come corsi di formazione e aggiornamento, gruppi di studio, apprendistato ecc.; Attività editoriale come pubblicazione di bollettini, di atti di convegni e seminari, di risultati di studi e ricerche compiute.

The Association is apolitical, non-profit and exists to promote and encourage the restoration of the monumental so-called English Cemetery and the conservation and development of the library's collection and of artigianal activity associated with the 'book' (printing, engraving, type-setting, book binding, restoration, etc.), and can also promote cultural and artistic events connected with the Association's aims. It can even carry out economic activities from which its members do not profit, if these directly benefit its stated goals. The association in carrying out its goals can promote various activities, in particular, conferences, lectures, seminars, slide shows, concerts, etc., educational activities such as seminars, apprenticeships, etc., editorial activies such as the publication of bulletins, of the Proceedings of conferences and seminars, of the results of completed studies and research.

Art. 3
Possono far parte del sodalizio uomini e donne di qualsiasi nazionalità, su domanda controfirmata da almeno un Socio, dopo aver dichiarato di aver dato lettura e approvato lo Statuto Sociale, previo assenso del Consiglio Direttivo a norma dell'art.22 del presente statuto.

Men and women of whatever nationality can become members after reading the Statute, their request being signed by at least one member, and assenting to the Article 22 of the Statute.

Art. 4
I soci possono essere onorari o ordinari:
A) La qualifica di Socio Onorario viene attribuita a quelle persone ritenute meritevoli da parte del Consiglio Direttivo.
B) Tutti i rimanenti Soci rientrano nelle Categorie dei Soci Ordinari e sono ammessi a far parte del Sodalizio su semplice presentazione di un socio.

Members can be honorary and regular:
A) Honorary membership is bestowed on those persons deemed worthy by the Executive Committee.
B) All the remaining members are Regular and are admitted into the Association by the simple presentation of another member.

Art. 5
La misura della quota associativa annuale viene stabilita dalla Assemblea ordinaria dei Soci su proposta del Consiglio Direttivo,
Tale quota è rappresentata da una somma di denaro o da un libro.

The amount of the annual subscription will be established by the Regular Assembly of the Members on the advice of the Executive Committee. This subscription shall be a sum of money or a book.

Art.6
Tutti i Soci sono elettori ed eleggibili alle cariche sociali.

All members have the right to vote and are eligible for office in the Association.

Art. 7
Tutti i soci hanno il dovere di:
a) collaborare, nei limiti, della loro possibilità, alle attività dell'Associazione;
b) rispettare e far rispettare lo Statuto e tutte le norme emanate dagli organi competenti;
c) contribuire ad affermare, promulgare e diffondere le finalità del Sodalizio.

All members have the duty to
a) collaborate, as they are able, in the activities of the Association
b) to respect the Statute and all the rules made by it
c) to contribute and affirm, promote and share the goals of the Association.

Art. 8
Tutti i soci hanno diritto a:
a) partecipare gratuitamente o meno a tutte le manifestazione dal Sodalizio, o da altri Enti od associazioni a cui il Sodalizio stesso abbia aderito. Per tali manifestazioni essi riceveranno l'invito personale o ne saranno informati a mezzo comunicato stampa o posta elettronica;
b) ricevere a domicilio eventuali publicazioni periodiche sociali.

All the members have the right to
a) participate in all the events of the Association, or of other entities associated with it. They will receive a personal invitation for such events or be informed of it in print or by e-mail.
b) to receive by post the Association's eventual publication.

Art. 9
Decadrà dalla qualifica di Socio, di qualsiasi categoria, colui che, direttamente o indirettamente, causi danno al Sodalizio o che, per cattiva condotta morale, si renda indegno di appartenervi.
La decadenza è deliberata a maggioranza di due terzi dell'assemblea dei soci. In casi di estrema gravità od urgenza questa decisione potrà essere presa dal consiglio salvo successiva ratifica da parte dell'assemblea annuale dei soci.
La qualifica di Socio si perde altresi per dimissioni che dovranno essere comunicate tramite raccomandata alla Segreteria del Sodalizio.

One can be disqualified from membership, of whatever category, for directly or indirectly harming the Association or, through immoral conduct, becoming unworthy of membership in the Association.
The disqualification is determined by two thirds of the Members' Assembly. In cases of extreme gravity and urgency this decision can be made by the Executive Committee and ratified later at the annual Members' Assembly.
The notice of disqualification must be sent registered post by the Association's Secretary.

                                       Assemblea dei Soci
Art. 11
L'Assemblea dei soci è l'organo deliberante.
L'Assemblea è ordinaria o straordinaria.
Viene convocata dal Consiglio Direttivo mediante lettera spedita a tutti i soci entro otto giorni liberi dalla data di convocazione per posta o posta elettronica e espostata tre settimane sul sito web dell’associazione.
L'Assemblea è presieduta dal Presidente o dal membro più anziano del Consiglio Direttivo.
L'avviso di convocazione deve contenere l'indicazione del giorno, dell'ora e del luogo della riunione nonché l'Ordine del Giorno con l'elenco degli argomenti da trattare.

The Assembly of the Members
The Members' Assembly is the decision-making body.
The Assembly can be regular and special.
It is called by the Executive Committee by a letter sent to all the members within eight working days to the date of the convocation,by post or by e-mail and be shown on the web site of the Association for three weeks.
The Assembly is chaired by the President or by the senior member of the Executive Committee.
The notice for the convocation must include the day, the hour, the place of the gathering, with the agenda for the meeting.

Art. 12
L'Assemblea ordinaria
approva il rendiconto economico-finanziario che dovrà essere preventivamente comunicato unitamente alla Convocazione, anche mediante espozione nei locali dell'associazione per almeno tre settemane;
provvede alla nomina dei componenti il Consiglio Direttivo;
approva l'eventuale regolamento interno;

The Ordinary Assembly
approves the Financial Statement which must be communicated to all before the Convocation, and displayed in the place of the Association for at least three weeks;
nominates the members of the Board of Directors;
approves any internal regulation.

Art. 13
L'Assemblea sarà in ogni caso, convocata al termine di ciascun anno solare, anche in luogo diverso dalla sede dell'associazione, per l'approvazione della relazione del Consiglio Direttivo e del Rendiconto economico finanziario.
Ogni socio maggiorenne ha diritto al voto e ad un solo voto.
Il socio impedito può delegare per iscritto, o anche per posta elettronica, altro socio titolare. Non si possono ricevere più di cinque deleghe.

The Assembly will be always called at the end of each solar year, even if in a place other than the seat of the association, for the approval of the account of the Executive Committee and of the Financial Statement.
Each adult member has the right to vote and to only one vote.
Members who are unable to be present may delegate their vote by proxy to another in writing or by electronic mail. A member may not present more than five proxy delegated votes.

Art. 14
L'Assemblea Ordinaria delibera con la maggioranza dei soci presenti aventi diritto al voto ed è validamente costituta in prima convocazione con l'intervento di almeno la metà più uno di essi.
In seconda convocazione, che può tenersi anche nella stessa giornata, purchè decorsa almeno una ora dalla prima convocazione, con l'intervento dei soci presenti aventi diritto al voto o rappresentati per delega qualunque sia il numero di essi.
L'Assemblea delibera a maggioranza dei soci titolare presenti.

The Regular Assembly deliberates with the majority of members present having the right to vote and is validly constituted at the first assembly with the majority plus one so voting.
At the second Convocation, which can be held even on the same day, though at least an hour after the first Convocation, with the participation of the members present having the right to vote or represented by proxy, whatever may be the number of these.
The Assembly votes with the majority of the Members present.

Art. 15
L'Assemblea Straordinaria può essere convocata dal Consiglio Direttivo e delibera:
in prima convocazione con il voto favorevole della metà più uno degli associati aventi diritto di voto;
in seconda convocazione, che può tenersi anche nella stessa giornata, purchè decorsa almeno una ora, con il voto favorevole del 33% più uno degli associati aventi diritto di voto.
In deroga a quanto sopra, nel caso di ordini del giorno che riguardino:
a) lo scioglimento dell'Associazione;
b) la modifica degli scopi sociali,
sarà necessario il voto favorevole dei due terzi dei partecipanti aventi diritto di voto e questo anche se l'Assemblea si tenesse in seconda convocazione.

The Special Assembly can be called by the Executive Committee and can vote:
At the first Convocation with a vote in favour of the majority (half plus one) of the associates having the right to vote;
at the second Convocation, which can be held the same day, though after at least one hour, with a vote in favour of a third plus one of the Associates having the right to vote.
In regards to the above, if the agenda of the day concerns:
a) the cessation of the Association
b) the changing of the Association's goals,
it will be necessary to have two thirds of the members having the right to vote and this even if the Assembly is held in a second Convocation.

Art. 16
I soci partecipano all'Assemblea con diritto di voto a condizione che abbiano regolarmente adempiuto al pagamanto delle quote.
Possono essere eletti alle cariche dell'Associazione, salvo deroghe previste dal presente Statuto, i Soci titolare che abbiano almeno tre anni di anzianità nell'associazione.

The Members participate in the Assembly with the right to vote who have regularly made the payment of their subscription.
Members who have been in the Association for at least three years can be elected to office in the Association, apart from the exceptions provided by the present Statute.

Art. 17
Le votazione si tengono per alzata di mano, si procede con altro sistema qualora almeno il cinquanta per cento più uno dei soci presenti lo richieda.

Voting is held by show of hands. One can change to another system if more than half plus one of the members present request it.

Art. 18
Le deliberazioni dell'Assemblea devono risultare da verbale, sottoscritto dal Presidente subito dopo averne dato lettura all'Assemblea.

Minutes of the Assembly's deliberations are to be written, and to be signed by the President immediately after being read to the Assembly.

Consiglio Direttivo
Art. 19
Il Consiglio Direttivo è composto a scelta dell'Assemblea da 3,5,7, o 9 membri e dura in carica per un trienno.
Il Consiglio è preposto alla direzione delle attività dell'Associazione; viene convocato tutte le volte che il Presidente ne ravvisi la necessità, quando ne venga fatta richiesta dal Segretario, o su richiesta della maggioranza più uno degli associati aventi diritto di voto.

The Governing Board is to chosen by the Assembly and consists of 3, 5, 7, or 9 members and office is held for three years.
The Governing Board carries out the activites of the Association; it is convoked each time the President sees its necessity, when the Secretary requests it, or on the request of the majority plus one of the Members having the right to vote.

Art. 20
Per la validità delle sedute del Consiglio è necessaria la presenza di almeno la metà più uno dei suoi componenti.
Le deliberazioni sono prese a maggioranza assoluta dei votanti. In caso di parità di voti prevale il voto del Presidente.
I Consiglieri che risultino assenti, senza giustificato motivo, per tre sedute consecutive del Consiglio saranno considerati decaduti dal mandato.
Le riunioni del Consiglio Direttivo possono essere indette anche a mezzo di comunicazione telefonica od posta elettronica.
Il Consiglio Direttivo ha obbligo di riunirsi almeno una volta ogni sei mesi.
Le sedute del Consiglio Direttivo saranno presiedute dal Presidente se presente o da uno dei componenti il Consiglio nominata a maggioranza fra i presenti.

For the validity of the Board it is necessary to have present half plus one of its members.
Voting is by absolute majority. In case of a tie vote, the vote of the President prevails.
Board Members who are absent, without a justifying reason, for three meetings of the Board in a row are considered to have lapsed from office.
The Governing Board has the obligation to meet at least once each six months.
The Governing Board's sessions are chaired by the President if present or by one of the members of the Board nominated by the majority of those present.

Art. 21
In caso di cessazione di alcuni dei suoi componenti il Consiglio può procedere, per cooptazione, alla nomina di nuovi consiglieri, nomina da ratificare alla prima Assemblea.

In the case of the resignation of any of its members the Board can proceed to nominate new Board Members, to be ratified at the next Assembly.

Art. 22
Il Consiglio Direttivo è investito di tutti i poteri, sia di ordinaria che di straordinaria amministrazione, essendo di sua competenza tutto ciò che dalla Legge e dallo Statuto non venga espressamente riservato alla competenza dell'Assemblea.

The Board of Directors is invested with all administrative powers, whether regular or special, that are in accord with the Law and which the Statute does not expressly reserve to the competence of the Assembly.

Art. 23
In particolare il Consiglio:
delibera l'ammissione dei soci su loro richiesta, previa verifica dei requisiti formali e di onorabilità necessari;
fissa le quote che i soci debbono versare;
fissa le quote a carico di ogni socio, relativamente a manifestazioni di qualsivoglia natura deliberate dal Consiglio Direttivo
può emettere un regolamento interno;

In particular the Board:
Votes on the admission of members at their request, first verifying their qualifications;
Determines the subscription which the members are to pay;
Determines the dues to be paid by each member, regarding to any kind of event the Board of Directors decides;
Can enact internal rules.

Art. 24
Il Consiglio Direttivo agisce in conformità delle indicazioni assembleari.
E' responsabile verso gli associati del regolare funzionamento dell'Associazione nonché del corretto impiego dei fondi.

The Board of Directors functions in accord with the Assembly's directives.
It is responsible to the members for the regular functioning of the Association and for the correct handling of its funds.

Art. 25
Il Consiglio Direttivo nomina, scegliendo fra i suoi membri il Presidente, il Segretario, nonchè il Tesoriere.

The Board of Directors nominates, choosing from among its members, the President, the Secretary and the Treasurer.

Il Presidente
Art. 26
Il Presidente è investito di ogni più ampio potere per la gestione del Sodalizio e per la realizzazione delle finalità e degli scopi del medesimo ed è responsabile di fronte ai terzi, anche in giudizio, delle obbligazioni contratte durante la propria gestione. Il Presidente può assumere anche la carica di Segretario o di Tesoriere. Il Presidente ed il tesoriere potranno aprire conti bancari e/o postali ed operavi con firme disgiunte.

The President is invested with full powers for the direction of the Association and for the realization of the goals and scope of the same and is responsible for a third, even in law, of the obligations incurred during office. The President can also assume the office of Secretary or of Treasurer. The President and the Treasurer can open bank or postal accounts and sign cheques together.

Il Segretario
Art. 27
Il Segretario cura l'amministrazione della associazione, tiene l'archivio ed i libri sociali, redige i verbali, cura la tenuta del libro dei soci, convoca il Consiglio su ordine del Presidente e sbriga la corrispondenza. A lui è rimessa particolarmente la funzionalità dell'Associazione ed il collegamento degli organi tra loro.

The Secretary handles the administration of the Association, keeps the archive and the books of the association, its accounts, records its minutes, its membership book, calls the Board of Directors at the request of the President and carries out the correspondence. The Secretary is particularly charged with the working of the Association and with the linking of the bodies within it.

Il Tesoriere
Art. 28
Il Tesoriere è consegnatario e responsabile dei valori, della cassa del Sodalizio e della tenuta della relativa contabilità. Si occupa dei pagamenti e provvede alle riscossioni dai soci e dai terzi. Deve consentire le verifiche che in qualunque momento potranno essere richieste dai Sindaci Revisori.
Il Tesoriere, coiadiuvato dal Presidente, redige il rendiconto economico e finanziario consuntivo e il bilancio di previsione mettendolo a disposizione del Consiglio Direttivo entro il 31 marzo di ogni anno.

The Treasurer is responsible for the valuables, for the account of the Association, and for its fiscal accountability. He makes payments and receives money from members and others. He must be willing to consent to verification at any moment when requested by the College of Overseers
The Treasurer, helped by the President, prepares the Annual Financial Statement and presents the Annual Budget to the Board of Directors before 31 March of each year.

Art. 29
Il Collegio dei Revisori
Il Collegio dei Revisori è composto da tre membri eletti dall'Assemblea al di fuori dei componenti del Consiglio e dura in carica tre anni. Verifica periodicamente la regolarità formale e sostanziale della contabilità, redige apposita relazione da allegare al rendiconto preventivo e consuntivo.

The College of Overseers is composed of three members of the Assembly outside of the membership of the Board of Directors and office lasts for three years. They periodically verify the formal and substantial regularity of the accounts, checking the relations between the estimates and actual expenditures.

Art. 30
Il Collegio dei Probiviri
Il Collegio dei Probiviri è composto da tre membri eletti dall'Assemblea e dura in carica tre anni. Decidi insindacabilmente, entro trenta giorni dalla presentazione del ricorso, sulle decisione di espulsione e sui dinieghi di ammissione.

The College of Proboviri is composed of three members elected by the Assembly and office lasts for three years. They decide together, within thirty days of the presentation, on decision of expulsion and of denial to membership.
 

PATRIMONIO ED ESERCIZI SOCIALI

Patrimonio
Art. 31
Il patrimonio dell'associazione è indivisibile ed è costuito:
1. dai beni mobili ed immobili che diveranno a qualsiasi titolo di proprietà dell'Associazione;
2. da eventuali Fondi di Riserva costuiti con le eccedenze di bilancio;
3. da eventuali erogazioni, donazioni e lasciti;
4. dalle contribuzioni annuali degli associati nella misura che il Consiglio Direttivo fisserà in rapporto all'andamento delle spese correnti, nonchè delle contribuzioni particolari e volontarie;
5. dagli interessi derivanti dai beni e dai valori appartenenti all'Associazione;
6. ogni e qualsiasi altro ricavo pervenuto all'Associazione a qualsivoglia titolo.
E' comunque fatto divieto di distribuire anche in modo indiretto, utili o avanzi di gestione, nonchè fondi di riserva o capitale durante la vita della associazione, salvo che la destinazione o la distribuzione non siano imposte dalla Legge.

The Association's property is indivisible and consists of:
1. Property and furniture to which the Association has title;
2. Any excess funds;
3. Any Grants, Donations and Wills;
4. Annual contributions determined according to the Association's expenses by the Board of Directors, as well as special and voluntary contributions.
5. Interest derived from the Association's property;
6. Each and every income that comes to the Association for any reason.
It is forbidden, in any case, to distribute even in an indirect way, earnings or unused money, or reserve funds or capital during the lifetime of the association, unless the destination or the distribution is required by Law.

Esercizi Sociali
Art. 32
L'esercizio finanziario va dal 1° gennaio al 31 dicembre di ogni anno.
Entro 30 giorni dalla fine di ogni esercizio, verrà predisposto dal Consiglio Direttivo il rendiconto economico finanziario.

The financial year is from January 1st to December 31 in each year.
Within 30 days of the end of the financial year the Governing Board shall receive the Financial Statement.

VARIE
Rimborsi ed indennita
Art. 33
Il Presidente e gli altri componenti del Consiglio Direttivo non hanno diritto di alcun emolumento essendo le loro prestazioni prestate all'Associazione a titolo gratuito.
Avranno però diritto al rimborso delle spese a piè di lista sostenuta per l'attività svolta, purchè autorizzata o richiesta dal Consiglio Direttivo.
Il Consiglio Direttivo può inoltre deliberare a favore del Presidente e dei Consiglieri cui sono demandati specifici compiti con relazione esterne, il rimborso forfetario o a piè di lista per spese sostenute nell'adempimento dell'incarico ricevuto.
Al Segretario spetterà, eventualmente, un rimborso spese forfetario annuo per le spese di Segretaria nella misura annualmente stabilita dal Consiglio Direttivo.

The President and other persons on the Board of Directors have no right to any pay, their work for the Association being a free gift.
But they do have the right for reimbursement of expenses incurred during that activity, if authorized or requested by the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors can also vote in favour of the President or of the Directors who are required to carry out specific tasks in external relations, receiving a reimbursement for expenses incurred carrying out their tasks.
An annual reimbursement for office expenses can be paid out according to the measure decided each year by the Board of Directors.

Scioglimento
Art. 34
Lo scioglimento dell'Associazione potrà avvenire per deliberazione dell'Assemblea straordinaria con la maggioranza di almeno 2/3 dei soci votanti, e, salvo gli adempimenti per fini di assistenza e beneficenza in conformità di quanto deliberato dall'Assemblea, dovrà essere disposta la devoluzione del patrimonio sociale residuo ad altra associazione con finalità analoghe, od a fini di pubblica utiltà, sentiti gli organi eventualmente preposti per legge, e salvo diverse disposizione di Legge.

The cessation of the Association can come about through the vote of the special Assembly with the majority of at least two thirds of the membership voting, and, apart from fulfilling goals related to assistance and charity in conformity with the will of the Assembly, must dispose of the remaining possessions to other associations having similar goals, or for public use, consulting the other entities that are put in charge by law, except where the Law determines otherwise.

Libri dell'associazione
Art. 35
L'Associazione oltre alla tenuta dei libri prescritti dalla Legge (Libro Verbali delle Assemblee e Libro Verbali del Consiglio Direttivo, Libro dei Soci) dovrà tenere anche un giornale di cassa.

The Association, besides keeping the books prescribed by Law (Minutes of the Assembly, Minutes of the Board of Directors, Membership Book), must also keep a daily expense ledger.

Art. 36
Per quanto non previsto nel presente Statuto valgono le norme di Legge vigenti in materia di Enti senza fini di lucro.

What is not covered in this present Statute shall be in conformity with the Law regarding charitable corporations.

Original, but not legal, Statute:

1. An Association shall be formed of the subscribing Members of the Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei, and the related, subscribing, Friends of the 'English Cemetery', which shall now be known as the 'Associazione Aureo Anello', and which is situated in the Protestant Cemetery, Piazzale Donatello 38. The title 'Aureo Anello/Golden Ring' is taken from the 1861 plaque on Casa Guidi celebrating Elizabeth Barrett Browning's poetry as marrying Italy and the English-speaking world, which opens and closes Robert Browning's The Ring and the Book, and which Giuliana Artom Treves takes up again in the title of her book on the Anglo-Florentines of the Nineteenth Century.

Sarà costituita una associazione culturale denominata 'Associazione Aureo Anello' composta dai soci della Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei, e dai soci degli 'Amici del Cimitero "degli Inglesi"'; la sede della stessa sarà in Piazzale Donatello 38. La denominazione 'Aureo Anello' deriva dalle parole che si leggono sulla lapide apposta sulla facciata di Casa Guidi nel 1861 per celebrare Elizabeth Barrett Browning, che con la sua poesia creò un legame d'amore tra l'Italia e il mondo di lingua inglese; queste parole aprono e chiudono The Ring and the Book di Robert Browning, saranno poi riprese da Giuliana Artom Treves per il titolo del suo libro sugli anglo-fiorentini dell'Ottocento.

2. The Aureo Anello Associazione is formed to aid the restoration and research of the Swiss-owned, so-called 'English Cemetery' in Piazzale Donatello, as a document of Florentine, European, and global history written in marble. It would work with the 'Friends of the English Cemetery' for this purpose. It would direct the related library and workshop, the Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei, situated in the Gatehouse of the Cemetery. It would combine culture and charity.

L'Aureo Anello Associazione nasce con l'intento di contribuire al lavoro di restauro del Cimitero detto 'degli Inglesi, così come al lavoro di ricerca sullo stesso'. Il cimitero situato in Piazzale Donatello è di proprietà svizzera, ed è un monumento da custodire come libro, scritto in marmo, della storia di Firenze, d'Europa e del mondo intero. L'Associazione per perseguire tali scopi opererà in sinergia con gli Amici del Cimitero detto 'degli Inglesi'. La Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei, che occupa un ambiente della casetta all'entrata del cimitero stesso, sarà sotto la direzione dell' Aureo Anello Associazione. Quest'ultima coniugherà cultura e carità.

3. Membership in the Mediatheca 'Fioretta Mazzei' is through the annual gift to it of a book or books. Membership is open to women and men, children and adults, foreigners and citizens, poor and rich, recalling Fioretta Mazzei's concerns for children, women, peace, and Florence. Library members resident in and about Florence paying a supporting subscription can become members of the Associazione Aureo Anello. Likewise, members of the 'Friends of the English Cemetery' through their payment of the supporting subscription, in addition to that to the 'Friends of the English Cemetery' and being resident in and about Florence, are entitled to membership in the Aureo Anello Associazione. Subscribing Members to either the Library or the Friends residing abroad can be Corresponding Members. All Library members and Friends of the English Cemetery members are entitled to receive information concerning projects and financial statements of the Associazione Aureo Anello and to make suggestions to it.

Si diviene soci della Medithca 'Fioretta Mazzei' donando annualmente un libro o più libri. Possono aderire all'associzione donne e uomini, bambini e adulti, stranieri e fiorentini, poveri e ricchi, richiamando alla memoria l'opera di Fioretta Mazzei a favore dei bambini, delle donne, per la pace e per Firenze. I residenti a Firenze e in Toscana corrispondendo una quota associativa come sostenitori possono divenire anche soci dell'Associazione Aureo Anello. I soci sostenitori della Biblioteca o degli Amici del cimitero residenti all'estero possono essere soci messi a parte delle questioni di carattere decisionale. Tutti i soci della Biblioteca e degli Amici del Cimitero detto 'degli Inglesi' hanno diritto a ricevere informazioni per quanto concerne i progetti ed i rendiconti economici dell'Associazione Aureo Anello, così come a offrire suggerimenti.

4. The Library is international, ecumenical, of many languages. It consists of books and other materials on the alphabet, the Bible, theology, monasticism, pilgrimage, paleography and codicology, art history, English Literature, women, children, indigenous peoples, trauma, handcrafts and skills, ecology, Florence, Italy, the Risorgimento, Europe; it especially seeks books by and about persons buried in the Protestant Cemetery: Australian, Austrian, Canadian, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hungarian, Indian, Irish, Italian, Polish, Russian, Scottish, Swedish, Swiss, Welsh. The Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei makes use not only of the books of a traditional library but also of the Internet and electronic global information-sharing. La biblioteca è internazionale, ecumenica e poliglotta. Gli ambiti di specializzazione del suo patrimonio librario sono: l'alfabeto, la Bibbia, la teologia, gli ordini monastici, il pellegrinaggio, la paleografia, la codicologia, la storia dell'arte, la letteratura inglese, il Risorgimento, Firenze, l'Italia, l'Europa, l'artigianato e l'ecologia, gli studi sulle donne, saggi e libri scritti dalle donne, materiale sui bambini e libri scritti dai bambini, documenti sulle popolazioni indigene e opere di autori indigeni, gli studi sul trauma. 5. The 'Associazione Aureo Anello' (formerly the 'Associazione Culturale Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei') sponsors conferences, lectures, seminars, meetings and exhibitions in areas related to its holdings and provide space and facilities for such conferences, lectures, seminars, meetings and exhibitions. The 'Associazione Aureo Anello' co-sponsors with the great Florentine libraries (the Laurentian, Riccardian, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Gabinetto Vieusseux, State Archives, SISMEL), the 2001, 2002, 2004 international congresses on The City and the Book and the resulting website at http://www.florin.ms, and on CDs, giving global access to the riches of Florentine/European culture. It holds international book and crafts fairs. It provides web networking with the descendants and scholars of those buried in the 'English Cemetery' and the Cimitero agli Allori and publishes CDs listing, describing and imaging the tombs.

L'Aureo Anello Associazione (già Associazione Culturale Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei) promuove convegni, conferenze, seminari, incontri e mostre nelle aree tematiche più vicine ai propri campi specialistici, e allo stesso tempo può ospitare questi eventi. L'Aureo Anello Associazione collabora e ha collaborato con le grandi biblioteche fiorentine (la Biblioteca Laurenziana, la Riccardiana, la Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, il Gabinetto Vieusseux, l'Archivio di Stato, la SISMEL), anche per l'organizzazione dei convegni internazionali 'La città e il libro, I (2001), II (2002), III (2004)'; gli Atti dei convegni sono disponibili sul Web all'indirizzo http://www.florin.ms/aleph.html, /beth.html, /gimel.html, e su CD, in tal modo rendendo accessibile a tutti il ricco patrimonio culturale fiorentino ed europeo. 6. The 'Aureo Anello Associazione' would cooperate with the Opificio delle Pietre Dure and the Istituto per l'Arte e il Restauro in their work in restoring the tombs of the Swiss-owned 'English Cemetery'. The Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei engages in arts and crafts skills training in stonemasonry, carpentry, cabinetry, picture-framing, print-making, book-binding, paper marbling, sewing, website crafting, booklet and CD publishing, etc. It provides scholarships and apprenticeships. It works closely with the Messa dei Poveri of Giorgio La Pira and Fioretta Mazzei, giving literacy and skills to those in need. Hand-crafted artefacts are sold to benefit the individual artisans and/or the library's purchases of books and other materials. The library seeks, as far as possible, to be productive and self-sustaining. Direct fundraising by the 'Associazione Aureo Anello', through its 'Friends of the English Cemetery', shall be to benefit the restoration of the monumental 'English Cemetery'.

L'Aureo Anello Associazione collaborerà con l'Opificio delle Pietre Dure e l'Istituto per l'Arte e il Restauro impegnati periodicamente nel lavoro di restauro di alcune tombe del Cimitero detto 'degli Inglesi' di proprietà svizzera. Il definito itinerario culturale della Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei è quello di preservare e trasmettere il passato al futuro, a tal fine contribuisce a far rifiorire gli antichi mestieri, promuove corsi di apprendistato per la conservazione delle pietre tombali, per la lavorazione del legno (scaffali per libri, culle per bambini, cornici), per la stampa di incisioni, per la rilegatura di libri, per marmorizzare la carta, per lavori di cucito, per creare siti Web, per realizzare CD e opuscoli ecc. Può concedere borse di studio e collabora con la Messa dei Poveri di Giorgio la Pira e Fioretta Mazzei con programmi di alfabetizzazione, e con corsi di apprendistato per le persone che si trovano in stato di bisogno, consentendo loro di impare un mestiere ed acquisire abilità artigianali. La Biblioteca cerca per quanto possibile di essere produttiva e finanziariamente autonoma. L'Aureo Anello Associazione raccoglie i fondi in autonomia tramite gli Amici del Cimitero monumentale detto "degli Inglesi" e tali fondi sono destinati al restauro dello stesso.  

7. Title to the books, furnishings, computers, purchased by the Librarian, Julia Bolton Holloway, remains with her, their usufructus being granted to the Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei housed in Piazzale Donatello.

I libri, l'arredamento, e i computer acquistati dalla Bibliotecaria, Julia Bolton Holloway, sono di proprietà della stessa e sono concessi in usufrutto alla Biblioteca e Bottega Fioretta Mazzei, la cui sede è in Piazzale Donatello.

8. There shall be an annual business meeting of the 'Aureo Anello Associazione'. A Directive Council shall consist of the Director and other interested persons. We shall be in liaison with the Cimiteri Evangelici, the Accademia di Belle Arti, the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, the Istituto per l'Arte e il Restauro, the Repubblica di San Procolo, the Associazione Fioretta Mazzei, the Fondazione Giorgio La Pira, the Amicizia Ebraico-Cristiana, the Florentine libraries, including the Gabinetto Vieusseux, the British Institute of Florence's Harold Acton Library, and libraries elsewhere, the Ashmolean, Oxford, the Armstrong Browning Library, Baylor University, etc., creating an 'aureo anello' between Florence, Europe and the English-speaking world.

L'Assemblea dell'Aureo Anello Associazione sarà convocata una volta l'anno. Il Consiglio direttivo sarà composto dal Presidente e da quanti mostrino interesse. Collaboreremo con i Cimiteri evangelici, l'Accademia di Belle Arti, l'Opificio delle Pietre Dure, l'Istituto per l'Arte e il Restauro, la Repubblica di San Procolo, l'Associazione Fioretta Mazzei, la Fondazione Giorgio La Pira, l'Amicizia Ebraico-Cristiana, le Biblioteche fiorentine, incluso il Gabinetto Vieusseux, la Harold Acton Library del British Institute di Firenze, l'Ashmolean di Oxford, l'Armstrong-Browning Library, Baylor University, ecc., così creando un 'aureo anello' tra Firenze, l'Europa e il mondo di lingua inglese.
