TWELVE BRITISH SOLDIERS IN THE PENINSULA AND WATERLOO BATTLES

WITH TOMBS IN FLORENCE'S 'ENGLISH CEMETERY' 

Of these tombs the following have had restoration work carried out: Kelletts (ironwork, Daniel Dumitrescu), Locke (Opificio delle Pietre Dure), Sewell. The other tombs need restoration and cleaning, especially those of Gregorie and Porteus. It is hoped as well to have the tomb of Sir David Dumbreck (Crimea) cleaned.

THOMAS STIBBERT (1770-1846)

A colonel in the British army, he was staying in Florence when his son Frederick (1838-1906), who would make Florence his second home, was born. At Villa Davanzati, in Montughi, Frederick was to invest his learning and his wealth to bring to life the largest museum of antique arms in the world, and then to donate it to the city. LS
